Been wearing hard contact lenses since I was 16. You’d think I’d have some sense by now, huh? Nope. None. I’m an idiot. Two weeks ago, I noticed that the vision in my left eye was worse. Seemed to have gone blurry. Called the eye doc and she was out of town so we made an appt for the next week. But the next week, she wasn’t back due to a family emergency and I had to reschedule.
Finally got in there today and the nurse said my one eye had gone from a minus 3 to a minus 4.5 since last year. I was stunned. Seemed like a HUGE drop. Dang. Made me worry. Then the nurse asked me to take out the contacts and let the dr look at them. So, I did. When the Doc came in, she asked, “when you took them out, did you put them in the case correctly or did you swap them?”
I told her I put the right one in the right side and vice versa. She then had the solution to my problem. I’d been wearing them in the WRONG EYES!! Well, stupid me- why the hell didn’t I think of that?? DUH moment, for sure.
The really bad news over all this is she showed me on the color chart of my eyes how the right cornea had adjusted itself to the new lens I’d put in it. It was kind of scary to see how my eye had already begun to reshape itself. She couldn’t get a true reading on my vision because of the change in the cornea. Now I have to wear my glasses for a solid week to allow my corneas to return to their natural shape.
I HATE MY GLASSES.
The glasses are for distance and not for reading at all. I can see perfectly to read without any corrective lenses. Can’t read with the glasses on at all. So, a week of constantly putting on and taking off glasses is ahead of me. I know I shall have a headache every day. I hate this and I hate being a moron even more.

Oh no! I do this sometimes too. Been wearing contacts since I was around sixteen too. The kicker is that I can see out of one eye with the wrong lens really well, but the other one is just awful.
Glad it’s nothing seriously wrong with your eye, though. That would truly suck.
I feel you re:glasses, though. Makes me feel like nerdy 7th grade self. Me no like.

Manda- you have the same thing I do- one eye was ok and I could see fine- I guess that was why I didn’t think about them being in the wrong eyes.
Yeah I’m relieved the eyes aren’t going but the glasses are a bummer!

OMG! I use to wear contacts all the time until I started having some serious problems. I have a different strength for each eye as well and would sometimes mix up the contacts. I have been wearing glasses for quite a few years now and love them. They have kinda become part of my personality. I didn’t like them at first though so I hear ya.

Mine are hard lenses and I’m sure that’s why the cornea reacted like it did. I’m lucky not to need bifocals so I’ll keep on taking off and putting on the glasses for this very long week I have to be without them! My doc used to order me a grey one for the right eye and a blue for the left so I didn’t get them mixed up- this time she did blue for both- she totally took the blame! LOL!

First of all, my hat goes off to anyone who can actually PUT contacts in. Luckily, I have 20/20 vision, otherwise I’d be a glasses girl. I can’t put eyedrops in my eyes without a major freak out.
Secondly, it isn’t stupid, you probably swapped the contacts one night when you were really exhausted or something. Don’t beat yourself up. And every time you take off your glasses, hum the theme from Superman!

Thanks for making me feel better, Danica. Maybe if I hum the song enough, I’ll get happier about the whole thing! LOL!

Just have to say you are the least stupid person I know. Stuff happens. Wishing no headaches for you.

Wow! The only thing I can say is that…any one of us could’ve done that. Seriously. Life is goofy.
I hope your eye reshapes. As for glasses…hey — the sexy librarian look is TOTALLY in. 🙂

LOL The issue with the damn glassse is that I need them for distance only and can’t read with them on so it is off/on all day long. Annoys me to no end!
