A Little Freaky

Some of you may have seen my facebook status on this on Tuesday. I was blithely minding my own business watching Planet Green. A show about the Bermuda Triangle that was very interesting. It showed several scientists and experiments they were doing to try to explain some of the eerieness (is that a word?) out there.

When that show was over, I didn’t move very fast to change the channel and a show came on about the Queen Mary II.  As most of you that follow this blog know, I just finished the first draft of a manuscript that takes place on the Queen Mary (the original ship) in 1937 and I stayed on the original ship in Long Beach, Calif in March. So, I decided to watch the show. To compare the two ships.

Imagine my shock when they started talking to the man who is the manager of the hotel part of the ship and they introduced him as Dirk someone. I didn’t hear his last name because I was coughing my tea out of my lungs. Dirk? The man’s first name is Dirk?

Talk about wild. This show was made in 2009. I swear I’ve never seen it before. But how can it be that my hero in  my manuscript is named Dirk? True, he’s not a Cunard employee in the book, but dang, can you believe they had a Dirk on the show and I have a Dirk in my book? Maybe you aren’t creeped out by this, but man, I am.  LOL!

Lol. I know, right? The editor in chief at desert breeze pub said the same thing. Lol. Great minds and all that.

That is FREAKY. Coincidences like that both thrill me and send chills down my spine. This was a story you were meant to write, I’m guessing. 🙂

I always say I don’t believe in coincidences so I get even more freaked by stuff like this. Lol. I hope some publisher agrees with you.

I can here the Twilight Zone theme song playing. And some say fiction is strange.

Yeah fiction is odd. There are many days I annoyed with people that say certain things could never happen Why does fiction have to be more believable than fact? Lol
