New experience, huh? It was beautiful. It seems like most people there handled it well. We were having snow, ice and bitterly cold temps, down to-6F. Joe-the-Husband’s father was stationed in Pensecola when Joe was little. His memories a vague at that age, almost non-existant, but he does remember it snowing enough for his father to take him, along with his two brothers, out to make a snowman. Before that, they had been in San Diego and LA, so that was a stand-out moment. ( He belives it was the Winter of 1957-58. He would have been 3 1/2.)
Nice! It is rare we get snow but it does happen. This year’s snow smashed the previous record set in 1895!! Glad your husband had a bit of a Pensacola experience. LOL. MY dad was in the Navy and we also lived it San Diego for a bit. I was 3-4. Then we lived in Texas and it snowed there the year we lived there. Then Dad got out and we moved to the Washington D.C, area as he went into Civil Service. We came to Pensacola when that civil service until moved the whole thing down here. So, most people who come here are Navy– we were Navy adjacent. LOL
Oh, goodness! Joe and his family were in the same places,(plus Newport, RI and Virginia Beach). He was in Texas before they moved back to the Washiungton, DC area where we met, (and I was born and raised). Before then, he lived in the area and we used to pass each other’s houses without knowing each other. Fate!
