Yes, she has indeed. A retired cruise ship called The United States. She is being cleaned of all her poisonous contents and will be sunk as a diving reef. She is in Mobile, Ala for the overhaul. My dad wanted to see her so we went out on the small ship offering tours of the shipyard. A fun day our for my dad’s birthday.
It’s an old ship called the United States and was a cruise ship. It had been neglected in Pennsylvania and was moved down here to Mobile, Ala to the shipyard to be stripped of all the harmful oils, gases, rust, etc and then will be sunk near Destin, Florida to be a diving attraction. I took my dad on the tour of the shipyard for his birthday. As a former Navy man, he wanted to see it even though it was not a military ship. We could only see it from the water. They had a number of other ships out there that they were working on that are still seaworthy. A hospital ship, a destroyer, and a search and rescue one that looked like it was covered in aluminum foil but is brand new. LOL. This one is magnificent but sadly, it was super neglected. She will have new life as a reef.Â
I’ve been landlocked waaay too long; this looks good to me.
This lady has seen a great deal.

What ship is that? It’s kind of interesting to see the process of
deterioration, but kind of sad, too. 🙂
