Jiminy Cricket! I’ve Been Shut Out of My Own Blog

Soooo, I was going to write this awesome blog post and dadgum WordPress was hating all over me and wouldn’t let me in. Heck, who knows if this will show up?  Anyhoo, I forgot what I was gonna say. Something Earth-shattering, I’m sure.  Leaving my office now to forage for food. I hope WordPress falls in love with me again while I’m out.  Probably dreaming there.

Have a great Monday.

Friday Facts- April 27, 2012- Ornithogalum Pyrenaicum

http://desertbreezepublishing.blogspot.com/ Today in the spotlight, I’m sharing an excerpt. Pop in and say hi sometime before Sunday and be entered for a chance to win a copy of the book as well as a mousepad with the cover on it.

Okay, on to the Friday Fact- ornithogalum pyrenaicum is a form of asparagus. This week on Twitter, Liv Rancourt, Rayne Hall, GRbliss and I got in a discussion about Klout. Rayne was discussing this term ornithogalum pyrenaicum as it is something she read on Klout and we got curious as to what the heck it really is. Liv and I thought it was something to do with birds as orinthology is the study of birds. Alas, we were wrong. Liv decided to google it and thus we learned it’s a type of asparagus. It used to grow abundantly in Bath, England and so is also known as Bath asparagus. Other names are Pyrennes Star of Bethlehem and Prussian asparagus.

So, next time you’re at Mellow Mushroom and order the asparagus pizza, razzle dazzle your waitress with this word.

NEW COVER LOVE!!!

My cover for The Season of the Witch is awesomely perfect for the story. I love the green eyes, the murky crystal ball and the font for the title and my name. I also love, love that the cover artist, Dawne Dominique, fit in the name of the store over the shop door. She nailed my vision of this shop and the town. I think she’s an amazing cover artist.

This story comes out in June, 2012.

And remember, I’m still in the spotlight at Desert Breeze. I’m talking about the inspiration for the hero of The Gambler in the post today.

Wordless Wednesday

http://desertbreezepublishing.blogspot.com/ (shh, I’m over at my publisher’s blog talking about New Orleans)

http://desertbreezepublishing.blogspot.com/ I’m still hanging out on my publisher’s blog today. I’m talking about experiences on the Queen Mary while I was there researching the ship.

Tonight, at 8 p.m. Eastern time, I’ll be here: http://www.exploreyourspirit.com/radio/2012/04/24/the-gambler-a-novel-by-jillian-chantal/ talking about my books and my experiences on the Queen Mary as well as experiences as a empath. I hope you’ll tune in. I’m a little afraid to tune in myself as I can’t remember what all I said. LOL! It was a fun time and really didn’t feel like an interview at all. I felt like I was chatting with a friend and that’s what scares me since I can yammer on like a dunce sometimes!

Friday Fact- April 20, 2012- Cripple Creek, Colorado

Why Cripple Creek, Colorado? Well, it’s a neat place (very old West look still to the place- and very inspiring for a western story!) but also because Levon Helm, of The Band, lost his battle with cancer this week. I love the music they made and this song happens to be one of my favorites.

Special Guest: Darlene Henderson

I’m guest blogging today here: http://shawnawilliams-oldsmobile.blogspot.com/ and thought I’d have a guest here today, too!

JILLIAN: I’ve known Darlene for a very long time – about sixteen years, I think. She’s a trip and a lot of fun and I’m glad to have her here today to visit the old blog.

DARLENE: Thanks Jillian for having me drop by and let me share a little bit about my story Dog Day Afternoons. This story was a bit of an adventure to write. I am fortunate in that I have more story ideas than time to write. But my publisher wanted a story about a dog and I had nothing. I probably spend six weeks a year in other people’s homes taking care of their dogs, but I’ve never thought of myself as a dog person. You’d think a dog story would come easy, but oh no. Finally, a friend gave me a great idea about a dog escaping and the story was born.

The story has three main characters. It’s the classic boy meets girl with a dog thrown in, let me tell you a little about them. The dog in this story was modeled after a real life dog. His namesake Buster, was my friend Peggy’s dog. He was a great big beast of a dog that scared the beejeezus out of me the first time I met him. Once you got to know Buster though he was a sweetie. Jessica is the heroine, she’s purely fictional. If this was going to be a movie, I’d see Reese Witherspoon in her role. The hero, Ewan he’s a former teen idol going through and messy divorce (think Paul McCartney here), hiding out in Florida. Ewan is not Paul McCartney though, he’s Scottish so I listened to every Bay City Roller song I could find on YouTube while I was writing. It made me feel like a teenager again and crush on my character. It was great fun to write.

Here’s a little blurb about the story:
When Jessica Beck’s dog nearly runs over the rock idol of her youth, it’s her childhood fantasy come true. There’s just one problem, she’s not a child anymore, she’s a grown woman with grown-up fantasies. Going through an ugly highly publicized divorce Ewan Kelley is hiding out on the Florida Gulf Coast when he meets Jessica, a young widow who brings music and happiness back to his life. Can Jessica and Ewan overcome their issues as they spend Dog Day Afternoons together?
