I was in New York last week with the spouse and two sons. We made the trek out to Coney Island and stopped at Nathan’s Hot Dog stand. (No, not me- hot dogs don’t pass these lips). They had their countdown clock going, counting down the days til the 4th of July when they have their hot dog eating contest. The same dude has won the last three years, eating over 60 dogs in 15 minutes. YIKES!
It was such a beautiful day. I took this picture of the boardwalk. You can see where they are restoring the planking. The darker wood is the newest part. I like the juxtaposition of the boards. Makes my “artist eye” happy. The sky was such a perfect azure color and the clouds were puffy and white. AND the best part for this Florida girl, NO humidity!
They have lots of rides at Coney Island. My #2 son, who is 16, refused to ride because he said that if they already had an ambulance on hand, he wasn’t about to get on a ride that the owners know is so unsafe that they have the medics on hand. Always logical, that kid.
Of course, my thought was that it was the hot dogs that may not be safe to eat!

I love Nathan’s Hot Dogs! Actually worked at a casino that shipped them in for their snack bar. The haute cuisine restaurant shipped in Kobe beef. Can you think of two more opposite things? lol
Love the pics! And it sounds as if your #2 son will escape peer pressure to do idiotic things–the stupid ones that ever seem to be the male Rite of Passage. Be proud, Mamma!

I love that the casino included all levels of culinary tastes.
#2 is very sensible. Gets it from his mom! S
