Before and After

The recent grad, the man who has been at a drawing table for five years, and his dad, the man who has been a desk jockey for more years than I care to recall, hiked part of the Appalachian Trail this past week. They did a three day hike in a day and a half, straight down, and almost killed themselves. They decided that the old boy scouting days of being in condition to walk with a pack on your back with all your necessities were too far in the past and they need to get back up to speed.  LOL!

They did enjoy themselves  but ended up, before the week was over, in North Carolina doing some fly fishing and sleeping in a hotel instead! They are more like me than they want to admit.  LOL!

Here’s a before and after shot. Later in the week, I’ll show you pics of the terrain and then the poor feet! Wordless Wednesday will also  be an awesome pic the son took. He and I are photography hounds and he got some great shots as usual.

  1. I’m into the hotel route. Roughing it is good as long as there’s a comfortable room and good food at the end of the day. Will look forward to those pics.

    • I’m with you, Lavada. I hope I can get him to email me the pics he took. I took these off my Walgreen’s acct that he loaded them to and they are tiny!! LOL!

  2. Brave souls. I can hardly wait to see their feet. I did a 60 miles in three day thing once. The tootsies weren’t pretty. 🙂

    • LOL! Only the son took pics of his feet. As I write this, I’m waiting for the email to upload so I can finish the post. The most I’ve done was 20 in one day and that was pretty rough- your sixty in 3 is amazing..

  3. I’d love to do that. Long way though. The last time I did 60 miles in three days I had blisters on my blisters. 🙂 I hope they will look back with a smile.
