Friday Facts- July 1, 2011- Manhattan

The original of this post got accidently erased when I was showing someone how to use WordPress- ironic, huh?

Manhattan is an island and one of the five boroughs that  make up New York City.  It has been a seaport for many hundreds of years.  I’ve taken a cruise around the whole island and it’s amazing how it goes from vastly populated at the south end to woods at the north. Also, the Staten Island Ferry is a cool, FREE, way to see the island from the water. It travels all day every 20 minutes between the two islands. You can get a nice view of Lady Liberty as well.

I’ve done that! I’ve taken the Staten Island ferry from Jersey to New York. We then got the awesome opporunity to walk up to ground zero. The quietest place on earth, even with so many people milling around. It was a quickie afternoon visit several years back and has alwasy stayed in my head and my heart as an important pilgrimige.

Amen. Everyone should go there at least once.
