I had a red letter morning on November 7, 2011. First, I got an email from the publisher, Darlene F., at Still Moments Publishing offering me a contract on my magical short story called Boxers and Briefs. I’m not calling the story magical because I have this huge ego and think my story is so awesome that it’s magical; rather, I’m calling it magical because the heroine is a witch. A witch who happens to run a lingerie store. It was a fun one to write.
Just about the time I printed and signed the above contract, I received an email from the publisher who I sentΒ a novel to about three weeks ago. The book I sent was my NaNoWriMo book last year called Tormented. Anyway, I was offered a contract for that book but they want me to change the name because it’s a romance novel and the name is not so romantic (my words, not theirs). So, I’m on a quest to think of another name. This story has already had a couple of names so I’m a bit at a loss for ideas.Β I don’t actually have the contract on that one yet but I have indicated I’d sign it so I’m comfortable saying it’s scheduled to come out in February 2012. This is my bi-racial novel and as you may recall, Idris Elba was the inspiration for the hero.
Vote in my unscientific poll- remember these are off the top of my head and may not be even remotely likeable, but vote anyway, please.Β

Double congrats, Jillian. The witch books storyline sounds great. Can’t wait to read it. Rita ay

Congratulations. How many published stories do you have? I need to get more out there. Three out of the four books I’ve had published have had name changes. And, with one of them I still like the name I had SO MUCH better.

Lavada- this will be my 13th short story, I believe (under two names). I have three novels out, a series of three under contract with one of those slated to come out April 2012 and now this novel set to come out in Feb. This is the first time I’ve been asked to do a name change. I think Tormented fits as both the hero and the villain are quite tormented by their pasts. I’ll adjust! LOL!

Congrats Jillian. He is one gorgeous man. I loved/hated his character on The Office. He came in to take over for Michael(the boss). I thought he did great in the part, but did not like his charcter because he was a jerk. I remember he was also in a Tyler Perry movie. Can’t remember which one. He is one fine man.

He’s quite fine. You should watch the BBC series called LUTHER- he’s spectacular – He was also in the movie Obsessed with Beyonce.

Woohoo! Mega congrats on the TWO new deals! You are rocking the writing world, my friend, and rightfully so. Here’s some brainstormed title possibilities for you to play around with:
Barely Scene
BareScape
Naked Palette
Good luck with that new name!
