The Autumnal Equinox begins at 10:49 a.m. on September 22, 2012 (that’s the first minute of fall, y’all). The word equinox comes from the Latin words for equal and night. The sun really isn’t out for 12 hours and down for 12 hours, but it is the closest to an equal number of hours of daylight and dark that we get besides the one in the spring.
This is the beginning of my favorite time of year and we’ve actually had some lovely high 60s in the morning and the humidity has been less than 50% so we’re really happy with the weather right now here on the Gulf Coast of Florida.
So do we go out and dance in the moonlight for the Autumnal Equinox? Fall is good. Glad to see summer come to an end.

you can dance if you want. I don’t have a problem with that.

I’m with you. I love Fall. And Spring. I guess that makes me a transitional gal. Actually, I love changing seasons, period. Here, we’re ready for some rain. It’s been an unprecedented dry spell and the wildfires are amped back up to extreme. My daughter and grandchildren are en route for a weekend away from all the unhealthy smoke. There’s been no local sports, no playing outside, nothing. It’s crazy. Even here, on the west side of the Cascade mountain range, the haze is thick enough we can’t see Mt. Rainier.
So bring on Fall. We need some help from Mother Nature. 🙂

wow! I was hoping things were better there – I hate that the kids (and adults) missed out on summer outside activities. Bummer.
I’m also a transitional kind of gal. No wonder we have som much in common.

Count me in on the transitional side too. I like spring best, then fall. But I like moderate temps. Mid 70’s the best of all.

I like fall better, Lavada and high 60s- low 70s is my favorite!
