Tuesday Tales – January 7, 2014- Toes

This week’s prompt for Tuesday Tales is TOES.

I’ve started a new story set in 1956 near Edward’s Air Force base in California. The heroine works for Eisenhower’s second presidential campaign and the hero is a test pilot. Check out the other entries here.

“I was asked to meet the base commander here for a meeting with him and”—the man glanced down at a piece of paper he held—“a Vivian Bowker.”

“That’s her over there.” Susan pointed at Viv. “She cut herself and was trying to get the blood out of her blouse before your meeting.”

The man walked across the space and stopped in front of Viv. “What’s a little blood between friends?” He grinned, dimples flashing, as he held his hand out to shake hers. “I’m Rick Logan.” She noticed his eyes stray downward to the still-wet fabric of her shirt.

“I do have eyes, you know.”

“What do you mean?” He finally looked her in the face.

“You were paying so much attention to my breasts that I wasn’t sure you knew there was anything above them.”

“Lady, I’m aware of all of your gorgeousness. From the top of your head with those dark curls to your feet enclosed in those peep-toe shoes, you’re a real Dolly.”

“Enough already. I’m sure your lines impress all the gals who like men who have no depth but they won’t work for me. I’ve got way too much sense to be beguiled by a pretty-boy.” Viv moved over to her desk. She sat and picked up her stapler, determined to ignore the man.
