This week the writers of Tuesday Tales are writing to the word prompt Strong. I am still sharing from the paranormal story. I am working on the first pass edits now.
Check out the other tales here.

She looked back at the inmate. “What’s your first name?”
“Dale.”
“Well, Dale, what if I told you that there was a young man I know who had a very similar experience? That he heard those same kind of noises for a few days and became violent as well.”
“He killed his wife, too?”
“No. He tried to kill himself and had no plan to do so until he found himself in the midst of it.”
Dale slapped the tabletop. “That’s exactly what happened to me. I mean, there was always some weird undercurrent in the house which meant I was never really comfortable there—it was worse for my wife—but then in the last weeks, it got more intense. Especially around the back upstairs area of the house. It got where every time I walked between the two bedrooms at that end of the house, I got really dizzy and nauseous.”
Lu wasn’t sure about this symptom of spirit activity but who was she to judge? There were still many things she didn’t understand about hauntings or the presence of spirits. She didn’t get dizzy herself but maybe it was a vibe that people who didn’t see spirits picked up on. A vibe that caused nausea. “What else can you tell me about the situation in the house? What were your immediate thoughts at the time your wife died?”
Dale tossed a look in Malcolm’s direction. “I don’t want this guy telling his people what I say so I’m not going to answer that one. I think I’ve probably already said too much.”
“Ask him if he ever had any strong feelings in the downstairs area near the landing of that staircase,” Jackson said.
“Have you ever had anything weird happens or a bad feeling near the bottom of the staircase where your wife was found?”
“Funny you should ask that. There was always something about that downstairs bathroom off the kitchen. My wife pretty much refused to go in there. She said she felt like she was in danger there.”
Malcolm snorted. “She wasn’t wrong, was she?”
Lu wanted to smack him. Is he trying to make this man shut down? What the hell is wrong with him lately?
Jackson came to stand beside Lu. “There is a reason I asked. Win Spencer was known to have tied his wife to the large tub in that room while he beat her.”

Wow! Wasn’t expecting that! The spirit world is really moving in. Looking forward to more.

How frightening to think of noises in the house being evidence of dark spirits. I always hear noises and wonder what the heck they are. You are creating a mesmerizing story here.

thanks Flossie. I do the same and when the cat sits bolt upright and stares off into the distance, it’s even more unsettling. LOL

Grisly, scary stuff today. I love it!! Don’t we all feel something, sometimes? I know I do. Hard to explain everything that happens in life, isn’t it? I love this story and I’m glued to it, waiting to see what’s going to happen next.

Thanks Jean. and yes, we do sometimes feel weird vibe things. I have been in the house that I am depicting here and have actually felt the nausea at the top of that staircase. This house was lived in by Wallis Simpson when she was married to her first husband who was actually rumored to hit her and tied to her that bathtub. It was a boarding house at one time and housed a number of military men from NAS Pensacola. I wanted to weave it into this tale.
