Still a long way to go on the story- about four more chapters but the NaNoWriMo stress is over for another year!
There Ya Go!
Friday Facts- November 25, 2011- Tryptophan
I bet a ton of you folks out there were sleepy, sleepy, sleepy yesterday after eating all that turkey. Know why? Turkey naturally contains an amino acid called Tryptophan. It’s something our bodies need and don’t produce. We use the tryptophan to convert to niacin which is essential to the human body. The niacin then converts to seratonin. Seratonin is a calming agent and plays a role in inducing sleep.
Tryptophan is used in some medical supplements as well. People take it as a sleep aid and for seasonal affective disorder. It has also been used as an antidepressant. Personally, I don’t know about all this. I do know I get sleepy every Thanksgiving after lunch, but it could just be that I’m not used to such a heavy meal in the middle of the day and my body thinks it’s bedtime.
What do you think? Truth or myth?

Happy Thanksgiving
I hope everyone enjoys the holiday. Eat lots. Nap. Enjoy your family time. Watch a parade or a football game. Do something to celebrate life and all we have to be thankful for in this world.

Emma
I can’t help myself. I own this movie. Have owned it for years, but every time it comes on television, I’m compelled to watch it. I can recite the whole thing, but I absolutely adore Jeremy Northam. He looks good in all his incarnations, but he’s especially dashing as Mr. Knightley. The cravat, the white shirt, and the breeches- come on, who can’t appreciate those? AND our lovely Mr. Northam has a big birthday next week- He’ll be 50 on the 1st, so happy early birthday to him.
All the actors in the movie are wonderful and I am so drawn to this film, it’s crazy. I’m watching it now for the eleventy-millionth time. I love it.

Supposed to Have A Guest
I was supposed to have a guest blogger today. I don’t know what happened to her. I sincerely hope she’s still on the rotating ball and has merely forgotten about the old blog. Anyway, I’ll tell you about her. She’s a member of my RWA chapter who recently sold her first manuscript to SirenBookStrand. It will come out in January 2012 and I hope she’ll share with us when the time comes. I’m thrilled to welcome a chapter mate to be a publishing house sister. Her name is Joan Chandler and the fun thing is, her name will be by mine on the website- well maybe- she writes erotic and I write mainstream, so we’ll see.
I’m sharing a recipe today over the backyard fence. http://llblog2010.wordpress.com/

Friday Facts- November 18, 2011- Naturalization
Naturalization is the process whereby a foreign national can become a United States Citizen. The requirements are that the person has to have legally resided in the United States for five years, or if the candidate for citizenship is married to a U.S. citizen, he or she has to have lived here for at least three years. There are also some special rules for those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. There is also a test that the candidate must take. I wonder how many of us that are born here could pass that test? I shudder to think.
Anyway, today, I will be at our local ceremony where we will welcome 73 new citizens to our area. I’m proud to be a representative of my country and invited guest. The oath always brings chillbumps to my skin. I love this country and I think it’s wonderful that these new citizens will be welcomed in the week before our national holiday of Thanksgiving.
