I’ve started a new project that I’m super excited about. It’s a young adult novel which may or may not pan out to be a romance and which may or may not pan out to be anything that ever sees the light of day. All I really know right now is that I’m having an absolute blast writing this protagonist. She’s smart, witty and just snarky enough to make me giggle. She may really be too over the top to be a realistic heroine but I’m absolutely digging her personality so far.
This is a magical story and I’m also having a grand time with the evil parts. I’ve left my heroine in a moment of peril and can’t wait to up the ante and make things worse for her. This really should be illegal- the amount of fun I’m having, that is.
Uh oh. Sounds like someone’s been watching too much “Once Upon a Time”. lol. In all seriousness, after reading “The Tainted Keitre”, I know you do magic well. Add in a heroine full of attitude and I can totally believe you’re having fun. Keep it going! It’ll see daylight.

Haha, Laurie. I haven’t watched the last several episodes of that show because it’s almost like they are wanting – after making us hate her- us to start feeling sorry for and liking Regina, so I stopped watching it. The funny thing is, I actually got the first scene of this story on my last trip to Tallahassee and it’s helping me work through the angst of last March. It’s called “Here There Be Witches” – LOL
And thanks re: The Tainted Keitre. That one was fun as well.

I know The Tainted Keitre wasn’t magic, but it was done SO well I equate it with other-wordly works.
And I just about spit out my coffee at your scene inspiration. Gotta stop reading you when I’m still waking up. π

Thanks re: Tainted- and yeah, it was def. other-worldly. AND my work for the day is done when I can get someone to spit their drink in amusement. LOL!

other-wordly? I meant other-worldly. Gees. I’ve gotta quit typing and go do something else to reset my fingers, I guess.

Reset is sometimes quite necessary

Having fun is what it’s all about. I love it when I can’t wait to find a few minutes to write a little more. I’ve got a couple going, but have stalled out. Everything is in my head, but I just want to “think ” it on paper. Don’t know what’s wrong with me. You’ve helped to inspire me to see where I can take these 2 WIP. Maybe I’ll get the characters back on track by the weekend. π

I agree, Kate. Fun is the key for sure. I hope that you get to work on your WIPs soon. I went through a funk in February so I know how you feel about the stalling out thing. I had a short story that took me waaay too long to get down. Hang in there.
