Submitting

I am notorious for writing and never submitting.  Guess what?  I just sent in a submission to the Knight Agency.  It was an on-line pitch.   Nothing will come of it but I am at least off my butt and sent one.   Who knows what I may do next.   LOL!

Edits

Been spending the last three nights doing edits on two manuscripts.   I have two I am trying to get ready to submit.  Solo Honeymoon will be pitched at the Silken Sands Conference to Patience Smith.   I haven’t decided if I am going to pitch it to Lindsey Faber.  I would like to pitch Redemption for the Devil to Lindsey but I’ve been told it is an odd historical period and I’ll have a hard time finding a home for it.  I love the story-  I have long been a fan of Irish history, esp. the time of The Troubles, when they finally got some independence from the English.   So when the story came to me (actually Liam Cormac, the hero, came to me) in a dream, I was compelled to write it. Marketable  or not,  I like it.

Researched a bit on Patience Smith last night and she sounds like my kind of gal.  She likes the NY Times Crossword puzzles and my day is not complete until I do it along with the LA Times, the Washington Post, the USA Today  and the NY Post ones.  She also took Latin in college (me, 4 years in high school) AND she likes Liev Schreiber (one of my favs).   Should be cool to meet her even if she hates my pitch.

Onwards to research Lindsey Faber.   Hope she is equally awesome!

Redemption for the Devil

Started edits on it last night and I kept being amazed at how good it actually sounded.  I know, it is weird to think such about your work but after I haven’t looked at  it a while, it is kind of startling to realize that stuff came from my head.   Anyone else ever surprise yourself like that?

a new blog to continue the dialogue with myself

I decided I needed a new name for publication and had decided on Amanda Paige which were the names I had chosen for my boys had they been girls.  To my chagrin, I found out that there is already an Amanda writing Irish Revolution manuscripts.  So, since I want to market mine called Redemption for the Devil,  I decided I better choose something else.

I remember a character in a Victoria Holt novel I read in junior high named Chantal.  Since that is close to my real last name, I chose that.  Jillian was a choice of name for my second son (suggested by the first son who was seven at the time).  I debated the British spelling of Gillian, since I like to set my stories in the British Isles, but I decided on the American version, because, after all, I am an American. (How’s that for a long sentence?)

So, here I am, Jillian Chantal.  It may all be for naught but I’m going to give it a go.

Hello world!

New Blog for my new Nom De Plume.   I have decided I need to write under a nom de plume to protect the day job.  So, here I am.
