What an interesting story Sir Thomas has. it looks like he had some…unusual methods, but he managed to balance the King’s budget. And he was a smart financier, getting paid in land. It feels appropriate that your ancestor founded a college. Nice genes. ๐
Thanks for taking the time to look him up. We’re very proud of him. Interestingly, my revolutionary war ancestor was also a Thomas Gresham. And I love that the original founded a college and kept his head in a particularly blood thirsty era.
